This is what I been saying for years about hip hop, Its ridiculous and degrading to our women and to ourselves, keep up the good work and check out my girl at www.myspace.com/judithonline and find out how we are moving against the negativity in hip hop and against big radio at www.freepress.com make sure you send your congressmen or representative a letter saying that you've had enough of big radio and payola may god richly bless and keep you -lordbudda

How can we get this video seen on a worldwide scale??? You think theres a way to get this to Dave Chappelle? He has enough money and power, and most importantly, he agrees with the message. maybe he could get it broadcast with some minor editing.

Interesting....just yesterday I was discussing how hip-hop has taken such a downward turn since groups like Public Enemy, KRS1, Poor Righteous Teachers, Brand Nubians, etc. have left the scene. BIG UPS to NYOIL! You have my support, and I bid you MUCH success as you continue to use your talents to help open and enrich the minds and souls of our people - especially in this day & time.

I think that the video was fire. Our people have been rocked to sleep glad to see that we have a few groups or mc's that are not trying to follow the path of the world. Also, state things that are inspirational
( as far as music is concerned) and original. Too many others are trying to sound like him it makes all of them whack.
The hottest part of the vid was even thought this brother spit his fire, he calls out brand Nubes, Grand puba, KRS 1, Chuck D (names are not in any particular order) to get back to their essence and come back to what we know them for and thats drop deliciously conscious, raw, and dope hip hop for all the people to enjoy.
That was a great look. It shows that he really is sincere about the resurrection of our mental dead people. Because he called to his lyrical ancestors for their help and aid in this world wide crises of the fallen and can not get up black man.
Thats my .02 cents peace

The video and lyrics were direct and to the point, yes we already know whats been going on for years. But help me understand how this video is helping the situation? This song is basically saying all the rappers doing the wrong thing should be killed; is this really what we want for our brothers and sisters that are on the wrong path? I don't see how this is helping the situation, if anything it makes those that are already ignorant continue because no one likes to be criticized and not offered a real alternative when the public encourages their actions by continuing to support their actions. How about turning our attention to our family and extended family - our neighbors; those who continue to support them by buying their cd's. Where there is no demand there will be no supply...... just my thoughts.

This video shocked the hell out of me. But once I got past the shock and actually listened to what NYOil had to say, I have to admit, I'm on his side.
To the person who took the words, 'You should all get lynched' literally, I have to say that I don't believe that he really meant those people should die. Perhaps it is their mentality about which he was speaking.
But then again, maybe he did mean it. After all, you can go back as far as Harriet Tubman and Nat Turner when revolutionaries believed that if you stood in the way of change, freedom and progression, then you deserved to die. The Last Poets expoused that view, and Malcom X expoused that view.
These people to whom he is referring have no qualms about poisoning our communities, killing each other, degrading themselves and others - the only thing they honor is the almighty dollar - so what the hell? In that way, they are already killing themselves anyway - not even just on this earthly plane, but in the spiritual as well because as the Bible says, "“It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of heaven.”
And if you've been on the streets in the South lately and heard the latest slang, "Go kill yo'self!" then you know they probably wouldn't even be offended by this song anyway. Heck, "You should all get lynched" might just become the next new slogan, nothing in hip hop surprises me anymore.
All that self-hatred and destruction - just for money - under the guise of freedom of speech and entertainment. It's a damn shame.
And as for the images he chose, they were probably images that were easy to get a hold of, I think he'd probably have included a lot more if he could have. Sorry if you, as a Southerner took it personally but there are a lot of southern artists to choose from that are making degrading music. Lots of Northern and West Coast artists are too though. Black folks are killing each other all over. Instead of taking his comments personally and saying F-U to him, you should look at those artists that are making us all look bad and give them the big F-U. But you can't do that, huh? Wouldn't be cool? Maybe you might get shot?
The truth is ugly, and it hurts sometimes, but if we don't start telling it, our people will continue to suffer in this life and the next.
"As we go throughout the world, we see many who are called 'dead.' Better that they die in the body and be cleansed of the soul than to live in the body and die in the spirit. What does it benefit a man if he gains the riches of the whole world and gives away his soul to satan?"

I love the idea behind the video. As a hard-working, honest, non-drug deal ing or using black woman, I am sick of images portrayed of black women on videos. Yes we are sexy but that's not the only feature we have. Many of us are homeowners, business owners, doctors, nurses as well as a wide ran ge of other professions. Oddly enough these images are not put out there. We are doing our people a great disservice by putting out only the lowly aspects of our society while leaving out so many of the wonderfully posit ive ones. This will have a long-standing ripple effect for our children a s they have to disprove the shameful legacy we are now leaving for them.
We need to remember that we are proud and classy people. They could not take that away from us so now they are using our own to do their dirt y work. A few may prosper financially but just think how many more of us would have if we used our energy and talent to build up our communities. Between HIV and ignorance we need to see that we are in a battle for our f uture but so many of us do not see that, and some that do say and do nothi ng to help. My hat goes off to this "rapper" who had the nerve to say, enough and state what effect this is having on us as a people.

Why is this video even *supposed* to be controversial? In my opinion, this is a prime example of how so-called "hip-hop artists" have beco me so degenerate that they can not even criticize themselves without degra ding themselves and African culture at the same time.
I didn't find anything positive, creative, interesting, or characteristic of the modern African spirits in this video. I wouldn't show the video to young people at all.
Maybe it should have been banned, as that helped censor ps eudo-conscious buffoonery masquerading as a progressive african message.
In other words, take that s**t off the channel, cause I'm not even g etting distracted on how trifflin' a*s folks is trying to come up on the b acks of black folk anyway.

Hmmmm..... It's funny because I think white people are just as violent as blacks and just as sexual... there are probably more white girls on the in ternet getting nutted on than black girlz, but because being black has a n egative connotation in this country (it's something looked down upon) it's worse when black people are violent or sexual. Yeah, black people put al l that stuff in music videos, because it's one of the only mediums we have . But white people put it in movies and books and politics (bush in iraq, clinton and lewinsky). No one's saying they should get lynched. There's more pressure for blacks to be 'good' because of what they've been throug h in this country, as though we should be super grateful that there's no s lavery or jim crow laws anymore, as though we should be super grateful tha t white people have given us a chance now...but that's not doing anything but creating a double standard. And maybe there should be a double standa rd... I guess the thought process is that 'you've been oppressed for so ma ny years, now you're free make something of yourself.' But there's always something about double standards that gets me... maybe its the unfairness of them.
All in all, I don't think black people should be the only ones being attacked. I'm against too much violence and putting down wome n in general. And I think this video does nothing but perpetuate the alre ady stigmatized view of black people. I'm more for positive reinforcement than negative.

This is the way I have been feeling about hip-hop for quite some time now. I have a daughter who loves to watch BET but can not because of the way women (not just black) are degrading themselves for a buck or just to be seen. I agree with the message behind the video but not the video itself. They way hip hop is being promoted to our youth is a form of slavery. It's showing our youth that you are not cool or nothing if you don't have the bling, bling or if you are not a b****, if you are not a pimp. It's teaching our young girls and boys that this is where its at and how it should be to be with the "in crowd". It's not focusing on studies and education, just getting that money the best way you know how or the easiest way, so in so many ways...The music industry is the Master..The Gangsta Rappers and the ones that are degrading our women (even some in R&B), are all the slaves. They are telling you it is ok to be ghetto, hood, ignorant and so on... If someone wanted to rap or sing about black folks needing to get their credit straight so they can own something (a house, business..some assets) or rap about getting an education, rap about reading a book that will teach you something (Rich Dad Poor Dad) not just about about my man cheating on me or just rap about being a positive role mole model in your community so our people can have someone to look up to other than the Drug Dealers, Gangsta's, Pimps and Ho's.. Let our people know that their are Honest, hard working balla's out there..

This video should not be broadcast to children. Honestly, I wouldn't watch it again. The "They should all get lynched" theory about entertainers...which were most of the images up there... comes across as a play on words, comparing the punishment undeserving slaves received out of hatred to one an entertainer should receive. Children should be educated beyond what is taught in school about slavery, to have a thorough knowledge of where they have come from. I feel that we are a developing community, and many of our stigmas come from slavery. I honestly can not blame the way our community is on hip-hop, and I don't understand how we don't realize the ailments of the black community and attempt to change those before pointing the finger. In this case a seemingly violent one.

First take at this video shocked me but I agree with the message. The message is not to kill rappers but to open our eyes as a people and realize that we are still in slavery, our minds, women, thoguhts, actions are being bought by the highest bidder and we are failing to see the dangerous affects it is having on us as a community. Young girls growing up only aspiration in life is to be on someones video shaking their behinds. That is not what Malcom X and Martin Luther died for. Yes the images were shocking but sometime it takes a little shock therapy to wake up.

I would like to shake this man's hand. I agree w/everything this man raps about. I've been saying this same thing for years. And finally, one of the few rappers that thinks and speaks intelligently. You should read some of his interviews and editorials that he has written. It's about time!! About time!!
